The lock-up switch on my assembly line stock car and TH-350 went out and I dropped 10% in gas mileage. Probably a 1600 stall.
I would suggest the biggest cooler you can physically fit in there and use a thermostat. See Jegs trans cooler page for thermostat. Synthetic fluid is worth the money.

Thanks, I assume that you have an overdrive transmission right? The car is a friend of mines, so I am not sure if he has overdrive or if he is going to get a lockup converter. Is there any way to have a tranny that you can choose if it locks up or not? If he has a 3 speed, It would be nice to be able to have it lock up on the street but not at the track.

Is it a lock-up? I drive a 3400 stall 9" converter on the street (L/U) and you don't even know it's there... The TCC (clutch solenoid) went out once and my cruise RPM went from 2200 to 3100. That increase in RPM represents a bunch of internal fluid "thrashing". You shouldn't see any appreciable difference in heat if it's a L/U, but a non-locking converter will make a bunch more heat.

daily driven 3000 stall
Hi, do you guys know of any downfalls to using a 3000 stall in a daily driven vehicle? Will it build up alot of heat and hurt the tranny or will a good tranny cooler fix that? The feel of it does not matter, I just want to know if it will hurt anything. The car is a 1989 mustang.
