Wrong. FORD did not design strokers. A 400 is a 400...period. Besides, how would you know the stroker came from a 351M or 400?

Putting a 351M crank in a W or a C wouldn't make it a 402 cubes, would it?

Technically all Ford 351s are actually 352 cubes. The Ford 400 is technically 402 cubes, etc.

I am only referring to the terminology used throughout the hot rodding industry. Such as 383 Chevy, 377 Chevy, 427 SBC, 342-347 Ford, 327-331 Ford, Ford 351 Street Boss/Track Boss (M/C heads), etc.,

so maybe the terminology of block designation has some validity.... 400W, 400C (heads), 400M.

I can live with it.

xntrik Isn't there an AOD for a 460 pickup? My son's 94 F-250 was an AOD.

The term 400 M is being used for clarification purposes since the advent of the 400 W and 400 C strokers.

We will learn to accept the change...... eventually.

I guess we could start calling them all the "402s" as well. (But that would blow the brand C minds.)

The only thing I am familiar with regarding this engine/bell housing swap is puttind a modified C4 behind a 385 for heads-up drags.

I can't think of any OD (maybe CHEV) that would work.

I should have been more specific. I know there is no 400m it's a 351 m-400. There is supposed to be an aode trans that I'm told has a seperate bell and trans. That is the trans with the 400 bellhousing that I'm looking to use.If I'm incorrect about this I have been misinformed.Thanks again for any info supplied.

KULTULZ The AOD has an intergral bell/main case. You will need an adaptor kit to put them together;

-ONE SHOWN HERE-



The 400 (there is no 400M) bell will go against a 460.

460 Aod?

I'm working on a '76 Lincoln twn cpe with a 460. I want to install an aod if possible. I was told that a 400m bellhousing would work. I also found an aod out of an F-250 (91) will they work together or do I need other parts to complete the swap? Any help will be appreciated.
