I was at the boneyard today, looking for a booster/master cylinder with a hanging footpedal.

The guy at the boneyard gave me an idea. I originally went there to buy a full size chevy camaro/skylark set up. I was looking at the size of the booster a started to think is that going to fit in my 48 chevt 1/2 ton with a 350 in it?
Maybe.

He came up with a great solution, and I was wondering if any on else had tried this or can see a problem with this?

He said use a late model chevy astro van with disc brake booster and master cylinder. The brake pedal is extra long to accomadate the pick up. The biggest differance is the booster it is smaller than the carmaro booster.

Hs anybody done this? What do you think?

Do you have power steering? If so, take a look at a hydro-boost setup. It's smaller than any vacuum booster, and stronger. Uses pressure from the steering pump. You will find them in late 80s full size cars and vans, and anything with a diesel in it. Oh yeah, that's GM products. You have a couple hoses to run, but you will never have to worry about brake pressure!

I've heard of (but not seen) use of a Geo Metro booster in early model mustangs that have little clearance. I guess the idea is any assistance is better than none? I don't know how much boost a Geo booster would supply.

I agree with farna completely. I did the very same thing on a hot rod I built many years ago because the vacuum brakes no longer worked with the larger cam. after I tried everything, and I mean everything, an old hot rodder suggested taking the hydro boost out of a junked '78 caddy. it took about 1/2 hour to install it and has not given me any problems in 15 years. ;)
