Bee4Me For a beater/driver using the gal. sheet metal,a good solvent base grease & wax remover cleaning and a good etch primer. We use this to paint gal.chimney caps and it's the easiest way. Vinegar is a complete joke, unless you got a vat to soak it in for a couple days.
If you want the "last forever" fix. Clean with the G&WR and scuff it with a DA & 80 gt. then clean again and epoxy.
Really cheap out would be to use paint grip sheet metal which already has a wash primer on the gal.

CHEVY NUT
GALVANIZED METAL "BLANCHING"

I Have A Cavalier From Northern Indianas-salt Belt. Front Fenders Are Perfect, Rear Quarters Perfect, Doors Missing Bottom 5 In Ches Of Metal. I've Contacted A Couple Of Replacement Panel Warehouses And Doorskins Are Not Available. I'm An Hvac Worker By Trade So I'm Going To Attempt To Use 24 Ga Flat Stock. I've Put On Quarter Panels, and Painted Before So I Just Need To Know What Prep Work To Do. A) What Will Remove The Oil ? B) What Will Give Primer The Grip It Needs? The Car Was $200 To Purchase So I Can Expend Some Labor Time To Make It Look Better. Vinegar ?
