pasadenahotrod Have you checked to see what a 272/292/312 Y-block weighs?? Surely the 800lbs you're speaking of includes the transmission as well, doesn't it?

coil springs

Here's another question for you guys with the know how, What do you recommend in regards to having new heavier coil springs made for my 55 Ford hot rod. I've got a beautiful 73 Lincoln continental 2 door hardtop that I hate to part out but might if I can't find a buyer for around $1500, that has a great running 460 and C6. Since the 460 is a bit heavier than the stock V8 was, I have spoken to a local spring company about having new coils made that are heavier and carry more weight. I also thought I'd have them made about an inch shorter to give me a bit more drop along with the planned Granada spindles. They are quoting me $250 bucks for a pair of them. I can buy NOS Ford stock springs for $179/ pr. but am not sure they would adequately handle the load of the roughly 800lb. engine. What is your recommendation for something like this?
