Are you talking about using all-thread to hold the heads to the block? All-thread won't have the tensile strength to sufficiently seal the head to the block. That is not a good idea.
ARP head studs usually have a tensile strength higher than a typical Grade 8 bolt. I'd guess that most all-thread is Grade 3, maybe Grade 5 at best.

threaded rod head studs
i was wondering if i could take threaded rod and cut it into the right size and use them as head studs
would the threads inside the heads cause any harm?
