|willowbilly3||Me? I'd find an 80s Mustang. The SBF is as cheap amd easy as a Chevy and the distributor is on the right end.. But those last Montes and Olds Cutlasses are nice drivers.|

what cheap cars are there to learn on.
mopar is a bad starter build. cars are a premium
the 350" chevy will yeild best results per dollar, with the most hosts.
i suggest a rering on a good spinning mottor. that way you only break into the top half. gets your feet wet cold timming an engine. serious internal next time.
get a $ 40 summit .420/.442 cam, used weiand action +/ performer intake, a factory GM HEI w/ vacuum adavance, the $68 summit rering kit , and a craigs list edelbrock (best for starters) carb. get it together
learn how to break a cam in, and rebuild a carb...but most off all.... learn to tune the HEI distributor curve/ and vacuum can! that is were the power comes out.
you can tell if people are successfull tunning the performer package. some will say its a dog that cant bark the tires..
the tuners can make a smoke show with it, and it has a great passing gear kickdown.

For a beginner
what do you guys advise as an amateur's first project? I'm thinkin just an average dime a dozen 350 rebuild just to kinda see whats goin on. We're converting our barn to a shop next year after we sell our horses so we can get some REAL horses in there lol
