Hi,

I have a Malibu 1977, Daily driving and some race for a pleasure

My setup is

Cylinder head 041 with 1.94 valve stock
Block 350 with original dished piston
Intake edelbrock performer
Carburator edelbrock 600 cfm
Turbo 350 with shift kit and a new stall converter
gear posi 3.42

What best camshaft for this setup ???
I see on ebay a aluminium radiator is a best choice ????
And what stall converter i need ???

Thank you for your help

What compression? It might be super low with dished pistons.

You have to pick the cam, compression, and stall together, so a better idea of how you'll use the car would help. What percentage street and what percentage race?... and be honest with yourself :)

Aluminum radiators are not necessarily better, just different. Copper and brass actually conduct heat better than aluminum, but aluminum can withstand more pressure, so aluminum radiator's tubes can be flatter and therefore have greater surface area in contact with the air and water. The result is pretty much a wash. Most aluminum radiators are capable of transferring similar heat to their copper/brass counterparts. One of the benefits to aluminum radiators is that they weigh a few pounds less. One of the drawbacks is their high level of sensitivity to corrosion. Copper/brass radiators tend to get crusty inside, but high levels of electrolytic erosion aren't typically as much of an issue.

I opted for a copper/brass high-efficiency core from Modine for an old big block. I could fill it with a garden hose, and it cooled 400 hp and kept a huge A6 AC compressor happy in stop and go desert traffic. I've done aluminum as well and been just as happy, but my wallet was a lot lighter.

CC has a program called Cam Quest. You put in a bunch of specs, and they give you a bunch of recommendations.

Whatda you know! I spec'd my own cam, for my engine and use. Got around to running the CC program and SHAZAAM! they recommend the same cam I picked out.

Call the cam companies for advice, they have seen it all and can offer advice on your build/use.

I would trust the cam companies recommendations, unless you are smart enough to do it your self, over Jethro down at the drive-in only because, if the company gives you a bad choice you can bad mouth them on the net (and they know it). Who gives a ******* if you bad mouth Jethro???

BTW, CC XE274 hydraulic flat tappet in a strictly street 383 with 10.30 static CR, Edel RPM Q-Jet intake, reworked Q-Jet carb, 1 5/8" long tube headers-true duals, TF 23* 195 cc heads in a 3300 #, with my fat *** in it, C3 'Vette with a 3.36 rear and 4 speed. Stock cold air induction WITHOUT a fashionable K&N. Accel HEI, 34* total timing running on 89 octane pump gas.
