Another option is to get the classic Corvair steering box. Since you only paid $10 for four orphan, you aen't out that much. "Vairs are getting fairly rare so the aluminum ones go for $$. However they also mad cast iron ones (stronger) with built on steering column shafts which are not in demand and can be gotten on ebaY for not much money.
The one in your photo looks like it has the build on shaft too so one of these should work. Yo do need to reverse the shaft on the 'Vair box as the drag link comes out the proper side but that is easy. See my Journal for directions on that.
The gear in the picture (auction # 150245481970) has 5 days to go on ebaY w/ no bidders so far and is listed @ $9.50. I never go on ebaY and not find at least one, usually several of these listed.

|email@example.com||Saginaw would fit w/ the Chevy van theory. IF it is, should be able to track down an arm or a lead here. A lot of those splined shafts are the same (they only made a few sizes). Do you have any friends building cars who could lend you a Corvair, Vega, other, arm to try in it? What is the diameter and spline count? If you post that, I'm sure there are folks here who wold rush out to the shop and see if their arm would fit your gear.|

|firstname.lastname@example.org||I couldn't tell by looking but back in the day early Chevy Van steering gears were the hot setup for replacing pre-war factory junk. This was before Vegas, and after market gears were on the market. That may be one of those.|

unknown manual steering box
I can't iddentify tis box by any markings but i got it for 10 bucks and it fits on my 1932 chevy perfectly were the riginal would go. the shaft is skiny and has a tapered end with a spot for a wooddruff key at the drives end. I need to know what it is because it need an arm
