Ratchet shifter throw distance?

I have a question about the ratchet shifters. Are there any models that allow a simple bump each time from park-rev-nuetral-drive-2nd-1rst. The B&M Quicksilver wont work because it has a big throw from Park to drive....then it ratchets. I'm not real familure with these. Not real interested in remarks that bash the product. I'm willing to work around the quirks these things have.

What I'm doing is placing the unit on a verticle plane under the seat (my 36 has a enclosed metal surround that the gas tank use to sit in).....with the shifter sticking through, beside my right leg.

I was hoping someone knew which one acts like a motor cycle shifter.....which has about a 2" throw either direction.....even if it has a sort of reverse lock out.

Thanks,
Dave G

Dave the only Shifter I know of that you can override the ratchet action and use it as a detente type is a custom shifter made by Brian Kilduff. It's a very Heavy-Duty rigid piece, Nice quality work too. He will custom make different models for you to, such as console, short, tall, different handle/trigger designs etc.. Has one that locks now too. He did have one that the trigger looked like a guillotine. I had a B&M Hammer shifter until I found these, sold the Hammer.
He sells on Ebay with a BuyItNow or Best Offer price & his own website, has a video of how they work also. The long throw from Park to Drive is set inside the trans too so it probably can't be changed.

Well that thing would look real cool on a console but its as big as a boat throttle. I do like it though. Just dont think it will fit vertically under the seat. Wish he made something besides the horse design. Great price too.

Thanks,
Dave G
Check with him and see if he could use just one side of the shiftarm / horseshoe and put the handle on the right side of arm. His console model may fit under a seat. It's base is 5" high.

The 5" height isnt my trouble....it would be length of unit, length of shifter arm, and amount of throw. I will check with him though and thanks very much!

I'm also looking at the B&M Pro Ratchet. A buddy told me he thought the forward throw was about half an inch. The plan is to mount the shifter arm so that it sticks through the metal surround under the seat....horizontal to the floor with about a 2 inches of clearance. With the door open....from outside the truck looking in....you would just see about 4" of shifter sticking out from under seat. The surround would have a slot about 3" long with the shifter sticking through. Hence the reason I cant have much throw....and the reason the shifter must always return to center after each shift....up or down.

I wish a B&M Magnum grip would adapt to their Pro Ratchet.

Again....thanks,
Dave G
