I know there are alot of ''chop'' threads and questions, but... I'd like to know if anyone has chopped a "48 Dodge 4dr post " with suicide doors,. I did a pick up once , so I know the basics. Question is, with the center door posts, I'm assuming the top can't can't be shifted ???

That grille work has inspired me to take another look at the nose of my Olds. If I could make a rolled pan to replace the bumper, and use a similar method to yours in order to turn the opening into a symmetrical oval instead of its current sad face...

Well. Attached is a cropped and scaled piece of a 1280x960 image of a 2005 Holden Efijy Concept car that has a nice look, IMO. Too bad my fenders are not as fat as that one's or yours.

Thanks for posting all this info!

while I was at the junk yard yesterday, the 70 year old lady that owns it, informed me that the my lenses are out of a ' 49 to '52, cause, as she showed me, '52 and '53 are a lot differnt . Also, in the 49 to 52 there is 2 differnt hieght of lenses, and of course I got the wrong one the second time ( I broke one ) so had to go back a third time !..........working on the bumper today...hope to get the bumper and grill insert finished today

More grill pics and info from knighthawk.

Here are a couple pics of the grill , showing the turn signals and the grill insert. It's painted with a few coats of Epoxy primer , It will be painted a glooss black when it's done. Now I am cutting the tips of the fenders to fit and re-shaping the fender curve to meet the fender. will have those pics in a few days.

the bumper is a '53 Pontiac front bumper upside down .. Narrowed it 7 inches , three inches in each side, cut and re bent the curve at the ends, and now just finished cutting the ends to fit the fenders. It may seem like a lot of work, but , I traded for this bumper with some parts I wasn't going to use, so it didn't cost anything............... I just like to use the free stuff first....

Actually, I really thought of doing that, had it in my mind about how I was going to do it . Then I had a friend came from Texas to visit and see the car, so I rushed to get it primered and mounted. Now got a friend comming Sat and will see the car , so I rushed to get the bumper tips done and painted black....... ...........forgot about shaving the heads............maybe later

More pics -

"Black car and black shadows don't make very good pictures. It DOES look better in person. Maybe if I waited till later in the day , kinda let the sun shine more under the car, to avoid the shadows......but I had to leave about 1;00 today (handyman jobs for the nieghbor ladies !) Guess you're just going to have to come to Kansas !....I did have a friend from Texas come by a week ago, a serious car collector and hotrodder guy, said he really liked it, only thing he said against it was the fenders and bumper tips wern't done yet, and he didn't care for the '85 seats,,,,,but really liked the body..............thanks again 'Brew' "

Notice the rearward slant of the grille area -

been working the last few days (evenings) on the window and vent window... I should make a confession here... when I chopped the top, as you guys know, the top needs to be longer (that's why most people use 2 roofs) and also a little wider, to compensate for the curve or the roof. I was able to make the roof reach (front to rear)all the way, without splicing it, by laying the rear window down some. The sides where so close that I decided to just cut and move the window tops in just a little, then it needed no splice there either. BUT , what happened is, because the window tops are moved in, the window channels don't line up anymore. Had to move bottom window channels outward, (to make them straight with the top of the window frame) ,after a little cutting and welding, then the channels hit the door latch assemblys , so I fixed them, then the key lock things hit, had to move them...it's taken 4 or 5 days just to get the windows to operate smoothly !.. and thats just the first window !..bottom line : wpould have been ALOT easier just to splice the roof !
