now i just picked this up...fairly cheap, come to find out, its a rare car? i would like to see if i can hear some more info if anyone knows about this car more so than my knowledge of nothing other than the limited production due to the year produced
its a 1942 dodge 4dr sedan deluxe custom i believe?
the title clearly states 42 dodge...so thats what im going off of...but i may pass this one on to a purist...i would love to restore this one, but i dont have the funds, nor the experience for a dead on resto...but i may keep til i have an entertaining offer...so a certain someone could be lucky lol, ill definately clean up and still prep as i go along
First I would like to say, congratulations on a great find.
I actually do wish it were mine.
Second, I have to point out that it is NOT a 42, but rather a 46.
The rear bumper clearly states FLUID DRIVE, a feature that first appeared on the 1946 models.
(Essentially a torque converter installed with the manual clutch.)
There are other upgraded features to the 46, such as an upgrading to the hydraulic brakes, etc.
i know, i had the same issues, i would say mine is a bit better shape, just have to swap out the center grill section for that same bling, and well make mine run lol
Is there any possibility that this vehicle is Canadian? It seems that the Canadian models sometimes used Plymouth bodies, and Dodge trim, etc. I'm certainly no expert on those models, but I have seen some on other websites that looked a bit out of the ordinary. Still beautiful cars, nonetheless, but different.
Does he have any '38 Dodges / parts? I need window garnish trim for both sides of my 1938 D8 business coupe. I am also looking for tail light and headlight bezels.
not to say if any of you are personally interested...but i am throwing this car out there as possble buy material or possbile trade material...let people know if there looking for a dodge, a great find, but not able to do full original resto...just throwing that out there...looking for another sedan or truck...
That is a thing of beauty.I had a 40 plymouth and a 40 desoto and I love this find of yours.Get that on the road and get ready for...What is it? :welcome:
so where would i go about looking into finding a rebuild kit as far as the motor goes for this car? i would like to try and just rebuild/freshen up a few areas that could make this car a driver possibly, rather than let in sit idle waiting...
For internal engine parts on old cars these guys are incredible. Check them out, it's worth it. What's impressive, if they don't have it in stock, they make it.
Seems to have a lot of the parts "there" and it looks solid... I just can't figure out what that white stuff is on it... some kind of mold? There was some on the ground too...???
My buddy had a 78 Z28 and he was at the car was one day cleaning his car. He had some crap on the trim around the window so he gave it a blast with the pressure wash and the paint peeled off. I realize it wasn't chrome but S.Steel instead. My 2 cents.
