I have a 41 Plymouth that I am going to be Hot rodding. For anyone who is familliar with this model and year range, where is the signal light switch? Is it that little toggle switch under the dash below the ignition? That's the only switch I can figure (and of course, it's not working...)
They did not come with turn signals as standard equipment. In that era, hand signals were the norm. (Can you imagine the chaos if that were still the case? )
It must of been difficult going around a corner, shifting gears, signaling a left turn. and talking on the cell phone all at the same time. I understand those early cell phones were huge!
The switch under the dash by the steering colum is the dimmer for the dash lights. On...Dim...Off. It has a resistor built into it to achieve the dimmer
The usual self-canceling turn signal switch I have found in the numbers of 42-48 Plymouths I have owned, and ALL of them had them, was a factory accessory and you might find a 42-48 Ply or Dodge and get that switch and use it on your 41.
There are also neat little signal lights and switches for under the hood lamps, inside the trunk lamps, emergency brake ON lamps, and areally crazy accessory electonically opening gas cap.
