boothboy John , were you referring to the "clutch booster" spring mechanism used in conjunction with the hand shift bikes with your mousetrap reference? If so the hand shift option was last offered in 1978.

Close enough David. I have found sources who say 67 and some who say early 68. I just thought it might be a fun question and thought there may be some who did not know that Harley made mouse traps.

I think the sprint and the smaller bikes ,the 2 stroke were built by amf as early as 72

Mine was a single cylinder 4 stroke. The SS's were the street bikes and the SX's were the dirt bikes.

Back about 69 or 70, Then a few years later Harley employees bought back the company from extintsion (under AMF's running it into the ground). By 1979 or 80 The company was once again profitable and has never looked back. If I had invested when Harley first became a publicly held stock company and shares were like $10 a piece, I could have been a millionaire by now.

I had a 1974 350SX Sprint that said it was made by AMF HARLEY DAVIDSON.

Very possible .but as old as mine was it had probably been changed and several other items also ,,it had a 2 into one exaust with a smitty muffler .
