TJP Another company practicing the same strategy is Hein Werner. I bought one of their 3 ton made in usa floor jacks and it began leaking on day 3 of use. They sent a replacement hydraulic unit. It was still in its rice paper box with Shinn Fu mfg. all over it. It lasted 3 weeks.
A bit of research showed that a company had bought the rights to use all the old well known floor jack names and were pumping them out ( pun intended) with overseas parts and using the "made in USA" loophole. Wound up with an OTC Floorboss and a Milwaukee (OUCH) but they are both working well

BuzzLOL . About the best can be done is send something back immediately if it arrives with Made in China on it when expecting Made in USA quality... guy over on Ford trucks forum got a Weiand Ford 400 intake right after switch from USA to China parts... it wouldn't even bolt on, hit the thermostat housing... he sent it back and they found a NOS USA unit for him... the company didn't know it would be from China because of drop shipping...

Ghetto Jet Somehow I missed all this, but I will never buy one of their products now. Matt Cain is a giant ******.

Pretty funny, if you Google "Matt Cain Eaton" this is #2 on the list. I'm sure plenty of family and friends have seen it. haha

TJP Just found this site and joined due to the subject matter, Specifically Eaton compressors
I bought one of their units 5 years ago. It has puked 2 pumps and 3 switches in 4.5 years. After 2.5 years it took a bit of arm twisting to get them to honor the 5 year warranty
The unit it replaced was a 15 year old craftsman 2 stage that had performed flawlessly under the same use/conditions, IE: I did nothing to it other than service it regularly.
The eaton was supposed to have more CFM but running my blast cabinet said otherwise. HMMM Blast cabinet???? yeah they eat AIR . OK so after learning the "EAT ON" unit was only rated for a 20% duty cycle I was somewhat disappointed I am assuming that is why the unit has had an appetite for pumps, .
So it is out of warranty and I am now in the market for a RELIABLE compressor "think QUNICY". It won't be an eaton.

I was watching an old episode of Bob Villia the other night. Never bothered to watch his show other than his recurring charecter on Home Improvement. Anyway, the power of Youtube and bordem. It was on shipping container houses, and the creator of the houses/ company said that the US is no longer a manufacturing country, hence the millions of abandoned shipping containers. Pretty sad

shine there is a list of american companies who have moved mfg overseas. is is massive and sickening . at first they kept headquarters here along with sales. now they are merging with foreign companies to shift their tax liabilities .

. Figures lie and liars figure...

. If the Eaton motor and pump are made in China and the tank in USA and they are claiming 60% USA Made, so can have a 'Made in USA' sticker on it, they must be measuring in inches... height of tank is 60% of height of tank/motor/compressor... LOL!

. Japans Nikkei 225 stock market index has fallen from like 80,000 long ago to only 15,728 today... but our DOW is highest ever at 17,000's... much higher than the 6,000's BushJr. dragged it down to from the near 12,000 he got it at...

shine depends on how you rate it. per capita japan leads , china is the #1 exporter . we have lost entire industries over the years. a lot of the manufacturing counted here is just assembly with parts made in mexico and elsewhere. the only country with a higher tax rate is japan . which is what is crippling them now. it is one of the big issues with their new government .

. That Curtis-Toledo name has me wondering if they are an offshoot of DeVilbiss Compressors that used to be here in Toledo... I'd be seriously suspicious of whether they are USA made anymore... since they aren't based anywhere near here anymore... they're in Missouri and California now...

BuzzLOL .
. What's interesting is they want to sell products at high American wage prices, but make stuff overseas with foreign under $1/hr. workers... WHO do they think they're going to sell to after a while... and WHO makes the difference in dollars between cheap made and high sale price... well, guess we know that...
. I think on about middle pages here somebody said their '5 year warranty bumper to bumper warranty' turned out to be 2 years on most parts... plus, some kind of yearly service and testing required to even get that...

shine we have the 2nd highest corporate tax on the planet . between unions and the epa there is very little to no mfg in this country any more. you will be hard pressed to buy american these days . sad but true. until we have some serious tax reform we are doomed to be a service industry . while i detest the way eaton reacted i can not blame them for out sourcing . numbers dont lie .

Welding Max I just tried responding but the site timed out so my post didn't make it (I dont think, anyway). An interesting post. I think the company's best approach would have been to simply sign up for an acct at this forum and responded directly to the poster who made the claims and simply respond in a professional manner. And the world can read it as a response to these supposed untrue claims. Threatening legal action seems silly, esp for someone making a comment on a forum. If they WERE made in China then the poster is not incorrect and this is not slander; it's the truth. The implication is that they once were but the majority are now made in the US. Semantics? I'm glad you brought this situation to light....

oldred Not only you but I would imagine lots of other folks because a heck of a lot of perspective buyers have seen how they can expect to be treated by Eaton!

Nice compressor=Quincy (Yep I'm biased but I have a darn good reason to be ).

Good deals on Quincys can be found at Northern tool.
