i went, actually had a pretty good time.i could see where if someone came looking for all the high dollar cars they were used to seeing, they would have been dissapointed.i actually liked seeing a lot of those cars in the survivor display that have not seen the light of day for many years.most of them had the history written with them.it was definitley different.i ended up spending more time there than usual.

What is your problem with TRAILER QUEENS??? Don't like nice cars??

People go to car shows to see nice looking and inovative vehicles....I hate looking at junk, it doesn't belong in a car show, same for stock vehicles, keep them on the street.

Anyway, you were right, the show deffinitly had a down home feel...not the quality they should be showing...but I knew that going in, many with there TRAILER QUEENS are staying home.....

The sectiion you refeer to was nice, and I like it a lot....They are not the steer junk I was refeering to, these cars have a history and are exciting to look at. I talked to many vendors and they were really not doing much business...a 10'x 10' section cost $500.00 and a 10'x30' spot was $1300.00. There wan't anyone there that could ever hope to recover there fees. In all I seen some 30-35 cars that looked like they realy belonged in a show like that, the rest was simply want a bees, and street junk.

had a nice long conversation with the owner of the 33 willys that little john buttera did the chassis on.the man said he spent 27 years working on that car.lived in california for many years and was friends with a lot of the icons of the industry.grew up with, and was friends with joe hrudka of mr gasket. he now lives in the cleveland area.
spent too much time in the koi area too.a lot of manufacturer reps were there and had a lot of specific information on paint and paint tool products.3-m reps also, paint gun reps.i don't think koi did too bad.

I know what you mean, I spent almost $400.00 on a bunch of 3-M sanding supplies, but they were really priced right. The KOI guy's were tripping all over themselves with the purchase, I still don't know how many hats, micro fiber cloths and so on they threw in the deal. There wasn't to many spending this time around.

Don't get your panties in a bunch last time i looked we lived in the USA and i am allowed to have my opinion i can appreciate the work that goes into it and the skill it takes to build one but most of them never even get driven to me that is no better then finding one sitting in a field and asking to buy it and they say no and when you ask if they are going to restore it or rod it one day and they still say no kind of a waste to me cars are meant to be driven not just to show i just would rather go to a cruise in at a local parking lot then to go somewhere that most the cars a trailered in so can we all just hug and make up now LOL!!!

Well it is the middle of winter and its and an indoor car whouldnt you expect them to be trailered I mean would you want to walk though slop and salt inside the building we have to do that out side at least here in the northeast we do besides there are plenty of drivers at most outdoor shows and a lot of times the trailered cars dont even come out of the trailer because of rain or dust in the summer

Oops, that might be hard to read, I forgot to use any puncuation or make sentences. Sorry :welcome:

That'll be 20 lashes, George. I believe Mikey is in charge of the punishment detail this week.
Well this is the Lounge after all so I'm gonna kick my shoes off and prop my feet up on the coffee table. On second thought, I'm leaving my shoes on!

jaslong & yknot,

You guys got to loosen up a little. Most any car can be appreciated for something, even though it might not be to your taste. I went to the boston WOW and was glad I did. A little bit of everything.

Take this rat trap for example, I don't like it at all, but they did something intersting for a rear bumper:

Now this car is a trailer queen unless he can show me a quater mile slip (notice the HEMI 1000 tire engraving). But it did have an awesome tube frame.

I wouldn't expect this car to be driven in snow to a car show:

No...Don't get this wrong, there are absolutely no hard feelings here, I just like jousting a little with others.....It's all in fun. I can appreciate any vehicle, from Sand Rails to Rat Rods, they all have a common thread, and each has a Engine, so all's good with me. I know some like certain things and that's fine, were all really car people at heart, so no harm no foul.

No hard feelings here either nothing wrong with a spirited debate thats part of what makes this country so great all the different opinions think how boring it would be if we all agreed on everything.I don't expect people to get their toys out and drive them in the snow and salt covered roads here in Ohio i was just talking about cars that never see the road even on nice sunny warm days i went to a show a couple of years ago and there was a car there with gold plated rotors what the heck is that good for but to each their own just because i don't like something don't mean i am going to tell somebody they shouldn't build it the way they want to and if i can ever figure out how to post pics on here i will post a pic of my 53 Ford to prove i don't like rat rods. :D

I know what your all about......and yes I have had some 5 vehicles that i built and never drove, you see I don't get very excited once the project is over, it's all about the journey for me. I show some, but don't generally enjoy it, to many like you that take offense that people like myself take the time and money to build show wining cars, then choose not to drive them. It's my thing, my choice and my decision...not yours to make. BUT, I appreciate your opinion on the matter, and while you can not understand the people like myself, you should at least respect there wishes, it is after all there vehicle, there time, and there money.....

Well I am done with this thread since you obviously haven't completey read my post. I didnt say that you couldn't build whatever you like i just said that i personally didn't go to the show because of all the trailer queens and i even said that everybody can build whatever they want to i just choose not to go to that type of show. i never said that nobody should build them and go to shows were they can see them i just don't care to go to them and that is the reason that i didn't go. As far as taking offense to them i didn't take offense i just wouldnt build one myself but like i said thats what makes the good ol USA such a great place we can all have or own opinion on the subject. makes no difference to me its just in my opinion cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed if building on that is trailered everywhere is your thing then go for it and have fun after all that is what it is all about. :)

I think it's time to put up or shut up. jaslong, all you have to do is go to the box labeled "manage attachements" when you reply to a post and you can upload photos of your '53 there. Or you can post an image if you have a photo account on the web somewhere by using the image icon right above the reply box. And yknot, lets see some pics of these 5 trailer queens.

I still need to do some work on the dog house, brake lines wiring interior work still quite a bit left alot of small stuff. i wanted to have it going this summer but it all depends on cash flow. The wiring will probably be the biggest hurdle as i am trying to keep the EFI it has a 93 5.0. H.O. with an AOD i also have updated it to front disc. It has been fun and its my first rod i also have a 77 mustang II with a 302. I have learned alot doing the 53 so it has been challenging at times but it will be well worth it the first time i get to drive it Probably have a smile from ear to ear i cant wait.
