Alternator Bracket problems

I have a small block chevy with 327 heads and no bolt holes in the head for the alt. I have the brackets from Spectre and they do bolt up...but the upper bracket with the slide does not even come close. I have looked everywhere for this set up and cannot find it. the heads are 1967 corvette fuely heads 64cc. block is a 1970 four bolt main truck block running a short water pump.
will have pic soon.
