redride Thanks for the info Gene, I did get a new flywheel that is ex. ballanced.

57halfton Wow I would have figured they were all the same . One thing that comes to mind is your flywheel , 396 is internally balanced a 454 is externally balanced , make sure you use the proper flywheel, it's a easy mistake to make , alot of people have done it and wiped out all the bearings in a very short time.

If you've got a micrometer, mic the ones at the part store. One of them should be close to the Jegs dimensions I gave you.

Haven't put a roller bearing in a crank, but it sure helps a lot when installing the bronze one if you put it in the freezer overnight... shrinks it enough that it goes in a lot easier.

dlc1979 I believe that all Chevy pilot bearings/bushings are the same size, whether SB or BB.

Jegs lists them: OD = 1.093, ID = .591, Length = .750, P/N 60105.

Doug Nash 5 speed

I have a Doug Nash 5 speed in my nova and am pulling out the 396 and putting in a 505 (454 stroked). Does anyone know what pilot bushing I need to use????
