hey everyone, i just put a new motor in my 87 s10, and the new valve covers are hitting on the brake booster. rather than switching valve covers i'm going to switch my brake booster, i know there are ones that have a smaller radius but are thicker, anyone know from what kinda vechicle i can get a brake booster that will fit this truck, but has a smaller diameter? if pictures are needed i can get them. i'm just a rookie so i'm not sure if any brake booster will fit this or if my setup will effect which one i need, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

yeah that s what im wondering what size motor and how come your covers are hitting wow what about the wiper motor and headers u must be right up against your steering shaft to be that close to your booster. id be switch the valve covers instead.. and checking the motor mounts somtin aint right there bud

what diameter is your booster? i have seen small and large boosters come factory on these trucks. some are about 10 inch diameter and the other is about 12 inch.

they are the same mounts as i used with my last 350 and i'm not sure the diameter because i'm living in another province until april but everything else is fine its just the valve cover, the headers wrap around the steering shaft so that's not an issue, i would have to say it would be the 12'' booster, but if i go to a junk yard i can just pull the booster from any vechilce with a 305 or 350? lol this is my first truck and i'm only 18 so i'm sure my questions are stupid but yah hafta learn sumwheres!

you can use the universal gm "chrome/natural hotrod" brake boosters like they have on ebay the 7" and 8" ones. the studs on them line right up with factory holes. just need to cut the loop off your factory one and weld it to the bolt on the new one so your brake switch works normally. also people use geo metro brake boosters and also the hydroboost units from astrovans.
