I know this topic has come up in the past, but I have a question for dan.
you like the av10780 clips over the av2385 clips.
do you find the longer clips leave the panel looser than you would like on the door?
I guess I'm wondering why you prefer the longer clips?
I plan on ordering some from perfectfit and want to get the right ones first time.
I also notice they have clips that are for panels 1/8th inch thick. av02309.
have you had any experience with them?
thanks for your patience.

I use both clips, but I prefer the longer clips, and no, they hold the panel tightly to the door. The 10780 clip is only 1/8" longer than the 2385 clip. Here is a picture of the two clips side by side. The one on the right is the 2385. I like the longer clips because on occasion I had a hard time getting the shorter ones to completely seat themselves in older cars with heavier metal in the doors. It is also easier to remove a door panel with the longer clips. It's more of a personal preference on my part. I hate the plastic Christmas tree fastener type clips.

I have never tried the 2309 clips, but they do just re-number some of these clips which are exactly alike to please one customer or another. In other words, the 2309 may be GM's proprietary number for the 2385. I don't know that for sure, however.

I agree, the wire offset clips are far better, for a couple of reasons.
and you're probably right on the numbering, I wasn't sure if they did that for different applications.
anyway, you bring up a good point on being able to push them all the way through the door.
I think I'' give the 10780's a try.
