I am in process of installing a 1970 Boss motor in a 1965 Mustang Fastback. Does anyone know if there is a kit from some manufacturer to help with this installation? If not,can someone lend some info about the installation if they have already done it? I am looking for pitfalls to avoid etc. I can figure it out eventually but I thought if someone has already done it and could help, it sure would be appreciated. Thanks
Unfortunately the shock towers are so narrow on the '65-'66 Mustang , you'll have to massage them to get enough clearance for the wider heads on the Boss motor. Mounts for the 289 in the same application will mount it once you get it by the towers.
yup, besides the shock tower mods, its a very strait forward swap. its the same block as a 289 only way beefier. shouldn't be any troubles there excpet header selection. my buddy put cleveland heads on a 302 and put it in a 68 coupe. Long tube headers from hooker cost him 500 buckaroos. WAAAY cool engine though.
I just put a 302 in to my 66 coupe were a 200 six
used to sit the only problems that i had were
that I used two motors to build one. an 87 ho heads and 76block. the motor over heats still
need bigger rad.
