jadejoky28 Thanks for the information. I called a local transmission shop and he told me they were not compatable. I orded a rebuild kit for the 4l60e. The 700r4 kit was for a 1990 chevy 1500 and my vehicle is a 95 GMC Sierra 1500. Better safe than sorry I guess.

Crosley you need to know what year this 700r4 kit is for.... the 4l60e trans and the later 700r4 use a different thickness frictions in the forward clutch packs.

be careful

Some of it perhaps. The 700R4 came thru a long and painful gestation with many changes to the hard parts. Depending on what years the kit supports will answer what, if much, is usable. You've got to get to a 1992 4L60 version of the 700R4 before you get serious hard part compatibility with the 4L60E.

Keep in mind the 4L60E is electronically controlled, the 700R4 and 4L60 are not. The 4L60E's valve body is way different and has it's own problems vis-a-vis the 700R4/4L60. It also has a bunch of internal wiring that needs to be replaced with a rebuild, by the time you do the differences between 'em it will probably prove to be less expensive to just buy a 4L60E kit.

700r4 and 4l60e

I have a 1995 GMC Sierrra K1500 that I need to rebuild the transmission on. It has an 4l60e transmission and a relative has an unused 700r4 rebuild kit. Can I use the 700r4 kit to rebuild the 4l60e.

Thanks

Jay
