red65novawagon Th-350 is lighter than the 400. Weight equals power but the th-400 is much more durable.

fast68 also keep in mind more power is needed to run a 400 than a 350, or that is what is always claimed anyways. good luck

ericnova72 Turbo 350 has a 2.52 low gear, the Turbo 400 is 2.48 low gear. It's not enough to even be noticable.

350 turbo vs 400 turbo

I have a 1971 nova with a 350 bored and built to a 355 with a 350 turbo tranny and a set of 355 Richmond gears in the rearend. The car runs very well but i was curious if a 400 turbo would add a little more pep to the launch. Is the ratio between the two significant enough to speed the car up upon take off or is it a waste of time and money. im also aware of the 2.75 low gear 400's but am concerned that the transition between first and second would cause a loss in acceleration.
