I am having a hard time finding the correct pinion seal for my 12 bolt. I believe the rear end is out of a 1966 Impala. All the parts stores and dealers are coming up with the same seal. Proper O.D. but a smaller I.D. The yoke has the inside clips. Thanks for reading.
Sounds like someone has replaced the rear end yoke with one from an 8.5" Corporate 10-bolt. the spline is the same but the area that rides on the seal is just a hair bigger than the 12-bolt seal. The 10-bolt seal won't work because the o.d. of the seal won't fit the bore of the housing, The only way to find the correct seal is to look it up using the dimensional table in the seal catalog.
I'm assuming that the rear end yoke has no tabs to center the joint when bolting together? The 12-bolt yoke would have the locating tabs
When you say inside clips, I am assuming you mean the u-joint cup has a groove for a c-clip that goes OVER the u-joint cup and inboard of the yoke ears? and not the clip at the end of the u-joint cup inside the yoke ear cap bore.
