smharbert79 These are the cast iron 083 heads, is the heat going to be a worse problem with this application?

While we are on the subject I have another Q. My personal project is an 88 3/4 ton Cheyenne. I have put a 305 from an 92 RS camaro (all i could find) after my vortec blew. I had taken the heads from the vortec and put them on this engine. Later found out that doing that lowered my comp ratio. What direction to get the best results should i go?

DoubleVision Those are good heads and would likely give it good power. However these heads have small combustion chambers so I would check the pistons, are they flat tops? if so the compression ratio maybe too high to keep it out of detonation. If they are aluminum if memory serves than they should be okay at 10:1 providing the aluminums faster cooling properties.
Run a 180 thermostat, cold air induction if possible, make sure the vac advance is connected to a full time manifold port and you should be okay.

Good idea? Bad idea?

A friend and I are working on an 83 chevy 1/2 ton 4x4. Had recently found out that the factory 350 we thought we were working on is actually a 68 327.
The heads are not double hump, to help him out i have a set of L98 tpi heads. But im unsure what the benefit if any would be putting a 350 head on a 327. Any pointers or ideas would be grand. Thanks
