As far as my books tell me you will only have to change the torque convertor, the rest of the conversion should be bolt and go.
You will however want to make sure.
First look at the trans-to-engine bolts, they should be directly in line with each other above and below the locating pins.
If the two bolts directly above the pins are closer toward the center of the engine it has the Buick-Olds-Pontiac-Cadillac pattern which I highly doubt.
Next, the motor mounts may have to be moved to line up with the new engine, but that is a unbolt-move-and re tighten step.
You will have to purge the fuel system of the diesel fuel, as much as possible. A gallon of diesel in a 20 gallon tank of gas won't hurt anything unless you have to pass a sniffer test.
Your high capacity cooling system for the diesel engine will work without any problem.
Your engine wiring harness will have to be changed to match the corresponding gas engine but that should be easy enough.

|BOBCRMAN@aol.com||your 350 will bolt to the trans, I'm told you will have to change the convertor as the stall is different than a gas motor.|

|Forkliftguy||Hmm as far as I know, my chevy astro van has that exact same tranny, but with the 4.3L engine, a 350 is suppose to be able to just bolt right in to it.|

1983 Chevy Diesel to Gas conversion
I have recently been given a 1983 chevy suburban with the 6.2 liter diesel engine. The diesel has blown up (why I am getting the vehicle in the first place for free). I am thinking about taking the diesel out of it and dropping in a chevy 350. It has the TH700 R4 auto trans in it and I don't know if I will need to do any huge spending to get it to work. I am getting the 350 for pretty cheap, so I am not worried about buying an engine. My main question is, will it bolt right up to the tranny? Thanks in advance.
