That's pretty much what I am doing with the Summit paint system. Single stage in red. I think I will go ahead and seal the interior paint as well as the outside. I have it all masked off anyway. These old S10/Sonomas have a LOT of painted metal on the interior.

I'll finish with the 400 grit tonight, then clean and mask everything tomorrow and shoot Saturday morning before it gets too hot.

deadbodyman I would dry sand with 320 da,use a quart of nason ful-base to seal (its way cheaper) and easier to use...sealer evens out the color and fills paint scratches. Dontspend your lifes savings on painting that truck...300.00 tops.single stage solid red ful-thane is what I'd use and you couldnt tell it from BC/CC no one can

millercustomfab You are correct with the sand/sealer on the exterior. You could step up to 600 if you wetsand. Personally I would seal the door/tailgate jams as well, as I have had issues before with solvents creeping underneath a sealer at the edge of a door before. The hood youll be fine on though.

Primer/Sealer Question

I'm about to start shooting paint on my Lil' Truckee and have a sealer question. The exterior paint is pretty dead (see it in the pic) but the interior paint looks new. I assume I need to de-chalk the outside with 400 grit and then seal it like with DP 40 before shooting the color, right? But do I also need to seal the interior paint or can I just scuff it up with 400 grit before shooting color?
