can you use o-ring style water neck in replacement of gasket style water neck.i bought a o-ring style but i found out i have gasket style does it make a difference?
Yes you can, but be very wary of the cheap knock offs their flange is too thin and when you tighten down on them they leak. A high quality O ring water neck will have a flange of at least 3/8". FWIW, do noy buy a Mr. Gasket one. ain:

Yes but you need to be careful when tightening the mounting bolts. The O ring style allows the bolt ears to be pulled down which will bend if not break them, so use caution. You can cut the ears from a gasket and place them between the parts under the bolts which will help keep you from pulling the casting's ears down too far.
Original is the best way to go but i have had some with the o-ring work and some that did'nt work. Cole
