ap72 at 425hp in a 400 there's no real need to run forged pistons. nor high octane gas. You're only looking for a hair over 1hp/ci.

Not sure where your getting your pricing from??? Probe pistons are usually a very good value in the forged piston dept. Are you compairing prices to other forged pistons???

Don't know what you are comparing to, but Probe tends to be the same as SRP, Wiseco Pro-Tru, etc, and some applications are a good bit cheaper. Not much out there in a cheaper Forged piston, only Keith Black's forged head relief line or TRW/Speed-Pro Forged are a little cheaper.

If you are comparing to "Hyper-pathetic" pistons, the hypers are not even close to the same strength.

I will not put hypers in anything I expect to run hard.

Probe Pistons

I am building a 400 sbc that will be making roughly 425 hp running on high octane pump gas. I need to know what pistons are good quality. are forged Probe pistons worth the price? i know they are good pistons but are their equal pistons at a more efficient price? i know an engine is the last place to get cheep parts but probe pistons seem expensive.
