Guys,

How do I remove window moulding around a front and rear window? I'm working on a 69 AMX and I need to get the window moulding out to prep the car for painting. Thanks for any help.

you need a tool like this:

You can get them in lots of parts places, or even bend and cut one yourself from a single piece of thicker sheet metal.

There are tabs that hook onto a lip on the underside of the mouldings, and the tool hooks onto the tabs and pulls them away from the body of the car and the lip of the mouldings. You then pull up on that part of the moulding until it pops up, and go on to the next tab.

Installation involves making sure that the tab is resting on the inside of the moulding (as opposed to between the moulding and the car body) and lightly bumping it (can be done with your fist) until it snaps in.

I'll give the guy creative points for the foam but that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard!

Use the right tool and be done with it.

I personally don't like the big T shaped tools. I have had one like this in my my box for thirty years. Mine is made in America though. :( for Taiwan junk.
