It's time for some new plugs. I think the ones I had were stock heat range. The use for my truck is nice days, weekends and occasional drag strip blasts. It weighs about 4000 lbs and runs high 14s. Motor specs are below. Thanks for the help!
Ah yes of course! I tried to recall where I even got the original plug recommendation and it was from that same page. A print-out of it came with my heads. Thanks for the reminder I'll have to go get me some. Seems they recommend Autolite. I tried buying some of those and the speed shop (Mopac, they have a store in Calgary) sold me Accell plugs instead. I remember there being some confusion about the Autolite plug numbers listed by Dart.
Are any plugs better than others? I saw a thread recently where somebody was saying Autolites weren't good and neither were champions, but Delco's and NGK's were good. Opinions????
Thanks guys. I see that the AR-series are race plugs with the cut-back electrode. Why is this beneficial? I forsee having a hard time finding them since they are 'race' parts. Is there somewhere I can find an equivalent to the AR133 (cold) or AR134 (medium) Autoline plugs? I don't really want to use a cold plug since my compression isn't all that high anyway. I think the Accell's I have now are AR134 equivalents.
IMO I would stay away fro, the racing plugs unless you are going to be racing the car. They tend be a colder plug and will foul if you are doing low speed cruising.
JMO but I would try an Autolite 26 for starters. Summitt has them for 1.50 each.
Thanks for that. I looked it up on the Autolite site and it looks like the 26 is the universal GM V8, small or big block, spark plug for anything from early 70's to late 80's. Inline 6's too.
With Autolite the higher the last number the hotter the plug. Based on that this plug is pretty much right in the middle.
