Just be careful, the cheap stands don't hold big blocks very well. My photo album shows what over 600 pds will do.
Rolling it is risky, I prefer a good heavy duty welded 4 wheel stand with ball bearing casters...especially for torquing heads.

I just bought one from Harbor Freight for $49. I was real skeptacle when I saw the ad in Sundays paper. When I went to look at it the folowing Monday I bought it. I had seen another brand at a tool show, you know the ones that are here today in the parking lot, and gone tomorrow. It was $10 more than the Harbor Freight one that I bought, and it was constructed a whole lot lighter. I know the one from Harbor Freight is Chinese, as was the one from the tool sale, but there is differences in the quality of Chinese goods. If you get the one from Harbor Freight be sure and lube the casters, both the axles and the swivel bearings, makes it a lot easier to roll around when you have an engine on it. I was really suprised at the quality of this stand. I did not use the bolts supplied for holding the arms on that the engine bolts to. I purchased four quality graded bolts and nuts.

|edog1||You can get one from Harbor Freight pretty cheap. Sometimes you can save money by buying instead of making things. If you do build one invest in some good casters for it.|

I built mine out of 3/16 wall 3" tubing. Just make a "T" then put another leg pointing up. Seems to me I used a 2" pipe with a 2".250 wall piece of tubing for the pivot, I don't remember the exact sizes but if you go to the steel yard just try the pieces to see what fits in what.The yard guys can usually tell you. for the mount I cut mine out of 3/8" plate. Then welded some casters on the bottom.
For high stress joints like the leg sticking up I prefer a high strenght welding process like 7018 or 6010 stick as opposed to MIG.
You can also go to the parts house and look at/measure one of theirs.

Engine Stand Plans
does anyone have detail plans on making a Engine stand i want to build one for when i take the engine out i dont want to buy one
