The more I do the inside the more the flat black and older chrome are looking worse. So I think I'm going to paint it either black or super dark metal flake green.
So what opinions on stripping some or all of the chrome? Obviously I'd weld the trim holes up and store it all incase I sold the car.
The brite trim gives the 53 character, and I'd keep it.
The window surrounds are also brite stainless, and the car
would look unbalanced with the side trim gone.
Nice pics; the car looks too solid to mess with much....
But as Roger1 says, do what YOU like. Me, I'd polish the trim
and spray it the dark metallic green.....
Thanks for the thougtful input. I've been trying to invision it both ways. I don't have a true love for either way over the other so I keep staring at it. I'm just looking for opinions and pros/cons since it may get sold during HAN or in the future.
This is my practice hotrod project. I've built a buch of other rigs but this is me dipping my toes into this. When i do a project car for me I'll go nuts but I havent gotten to that part yet. The closest I've seen in a tube chassis 2 seater with 700hp thats gotten me interested.
This 4Klbs 340hp rig is fun and should be a great driver but it wont be a monster by any means.

It's not my car, I just did the interior. I just wanted you to see other options, and to know your car can be super.
P.S. I like the chrome on your car, and I think you should keep it and accent it in some way.
I vote to keep the trim..its really essential to the character of the car, unless you're going to be doing some truly epic changes to the overall thene of the car, which doesn't sound likely.

Exactly, thanks Mike. The body is in super shape so cutting on it is :nono: . I'd play with a beater cab first before potentialy trashing a nice body.
Also I want to drive the snot out of this car and I'm not sold on chop top's visability. For a weekend cruiser sure, a semi-daily driver....not so sure.
It was lowered about 4.5", looked good but drove like hell. Its back to stock now and I may lower it 2" but no more.
Its off a bit in the pic because the rears are new stock size tires and the fronts are undersized by 2 sizes. I have to get the other 3 (fronts and spare) mounted but my starter gear shaft just broke so payday before I can drive it over.
I still have to clean up the dash wiring and mount the seats+belts anyways this weekend.
