sqzbox Can you raise the front end an inch or so with ball joint extensions/stiffer springs and gain a little space between the tie-rod and pan? It seems that the after market "original" isn't so original with the same dimensions as the factory huh?. I or maybe you have already though about other options than having to pull the engine when the pan already has a good seal on it. dangit!
I can feel your frustration as if it happened to me.

lngliv3 I put a new aftermarket "original" style pan on it when I built the motor, and now my tie rod ball joints hit the oil pan before I can get lock to lock. There is little difference there, but its enough to hit pretty hard.

sqzbox Just out of curiosity, why do you want to pull the pan off?

Jeff The Ruler What He said. By The time you get situated into the half-arsed way of doing it, at that point its only another minute of persuading with the engine crane and you can do it easier and with better results.

ericnova72 Been there with a 67 Chevelle, which is the same frame. you can't do it without lifting the engine about 3",..... and by the time you go that far you might as well just pull it out and make the reinstall preocess foolproof for the gasket to be sure you will have no leaks when done

65 chevelle oil pan removal?

Does anyone know if its possible to remove the oil pan from a 1965 chevelle with a 383 sbc and a Th350 without pulling the motor and trans? Clearance looks really tight.
