jimfulco A 235 is a totally different engine from the 194, 230, 250, 292 series. It has a different bellhousing flange bolt pattern. You may be able to use a later 4-speed trans with your present bellhousing, but I'm not sure. I read somewhere that the front trans bearing retainer changed diameter somewhere around 1967 or so, but again, I'm not sure of this.

11echo The 235 is the same as a 194 & 250 line 6's. AND the same trans pattern as the small block. But there is a difference between the 3 spd's and the 4 spd's bell housings. The bolt pattern is the same but the pilot (ring around the input shaft is different - (not the pilot bearing)). I have a 85 4 spd. Saganaw behind my 235 now, bolt up item. Hope this helps! ...Mark

gt2betubbed Never seen a 235, but isn't there a bellhousing? I would think it mattered more on that than the motor.

4 speed manual

Is there a four speed manual out there that will bolt to a pre 63 235?
