can you use header flanges to move out about 1/4 inch. I've seen do it your self header kits. probably just buy the flanges from one of those companies.
the valve cover rails on the later centerbolt heads (vortec, LT1, '87 and up smallblock....) stick up higher and won't clear manifolds that come up over the ports.
there should be headers that fit, if ram's horns do than vette or blockhuggers probably will, and ltos of things can be made to work with the right saw/welder/hammer
I just went through this with a vortec head change using center bolt corvette valve covers. The little bumps in the casting just needs to be sanded down a little with an angle grinder
This pic is throwing me a little. I see a short water pump, ram horns with the alternator mounted to it...but a late 70's-through-80's A/C compressor. Looking at the A/C pump makes me think it's a late 70's-early 80's vette. But the short water pump and alternator mounted to ram horns makes me think it's a late-60's model (or did this body style even use ram-horns form the factory???) Hmmm...

The Corvette used the short water pump and rams horn exhaust manifolds until 1982, the last year of the '68-82 style body. It never used long water pumps or different exhaust manifolds. I would guess the car in the pic is '79-82 because of the radial compressor. Or the compressor has been retrofit.
This was my thought too, creates the least amount of finish work. Laser cut, or maybe even Plasma cut if you can find someone local who has a Plasma Cam/Cad set-up.
If you must, find an old set of headers, remove the tubes and you have the correct spacer. Use a die grinder to port match to your rams horns and you are on your way. I would also use copper gaskets on each side of the spacer or you will probably be run crazy with leaks.

The corvette always used a short pump but the pilot shaft was larger then the other short pumps. The alternator barcket is not part of the manifold as it was in earlier production models. This is a 1977 corvette and the A/C compressor was changed to the R4.
