BigD454 The casting numbers on the block and heads are for a 454, these I could find. The date code seems off too. (J27 79) Would this style of date code refer to a 400 as well?

327NUT Now I can see why you were having so much trouble....I looked on several web sites. The only thing I could find with "CAJ" was a 400 2 bbl, 255 hp. It didn't give the year or type of car/truck it came in nor did they call it a 402 which some web sites did. Didn't find any 454's with that letter sequence.

De-coding my 454 engine numbers

I need help on this one. I have been looking for days for an answer. I have a Chev 454 with the serial number CAJ119834. Everywhere I have looked does not show this letter/number combination. Casting numbers say its a 454 from 1978 thru 1987, but that serial number has me stumped. Someone please shine some light on this for me.
