350chevypower I used to a drive aa 95 dakota with the 3.9L magnum and I cut all the stock pipe from the Y pipe off and installed 2'1/2'' straight but into a Magnaflow muffler then out the side.....sounded pretty decent but didnt have that god awful drone... maybe try Magnaflow?

TireTracks While i enjoy the way a v8 sounds with a straight pipe at idle, I hate how loud it is as soon as you touch the gas.

I would run Duels with the Flow master 44's. About as loud as you can get while still running mufflers, or use short glasspacks ( I love how glasspacks sound. Like straight pipes but without the volume.)

BigRoy1978 What?! I cant hear you! lol.

#5 you will lose some hearing!

I'm 21, and just from driving tractors (farmed since i was 14), to driving my trans am (see below) and driving a dirt circle car (open headers on a 400+ hp engine, at 7000 rpm) I've lost hearing. Doc says about 35%! Mufflers!!!!!!!

The exhaust on my daily driven car is...

headers-1 foot 3 inch pipe-12 inch glasspack-2 more foot of pipe-turndown

Its REALLY...REALLY loud! And its REALLY cool!!! ...for the first week...then it got OLD!!

I like volume, but it has to sound smooth, not all crackly and raspy like with a straight pipe.

my opinion, don't do may sound like a good idea, but it end up being really annoying!

327NUT This straight exhaust subject comes up too often...#1. it's ILLEGAL #2. it will piss off your neighbors #3. You'll be fresh meat for the local Cops #4. Even you will get tired of it quickly....anyone else have #5?

Dodge Dakota cheap straght pipe?

Hello, I currently drive a 99 dodge dakota 5.2L 4x4 and I have a super flowmaster 44 can on the stock piping. I like it, however i just want it to be LOUDDER! Would it sound decently louder if i took off the can, and went to auto zone and bought an exhaust pipe, i know they sell one thats just as long as the can, would this sound good or is it just bad news?! Thanks
