JGK95 Since becoming road worthy last October, Tha Beast! would always pull to the right when braking under hard conditions.

It was repaired this past February and we discovered that the tie rod on the driver's side was close to falling off!

We weren't knowledgeable enough to figure it out so we brought it to a shop near my Dad's house in FL.

The shop not only fixed the alignment, but they also discovered two brands of brake pads on the front suspension.

Those pads were installed at the factory. Yeah, they got tossed for new ones ASAP!

Thanks Street Beasts! lol!

Anyway, we put on a new fuel pump and you can now hear yourself think until you turn the car on whereas previously the noise of the fuel pump would drown out any nearby conversation.

Now you just blame the open pipes and smile.

Another thing, while I had it in Chicago, I never attended a car show.

I found myself too busy driving it down Michigan Avenue in the heart of the city.

I'd frequently get stuck behind buses, horse n' carriages, taxis and whatever else I could find as my daughter loved the attention from the passenger seat with a devilish smile and an ear to ear grin.

Cheers,

Jay K.

If I can find the video of it running with the cutouts open, I'll add it here.

JGK95 Got the license plates today!!!!!!!!!

WOOO!

Rodnit I like the closed in carpeted look I have, but I don't like the lack of access to the backside of the dash. Once I figure out how to remove the dash I "may" open it up....

The gas gauge is one of only couple of gauges that work good on mine... Lol I've brought it right down to empty... That and the temp gauge. Speedo and oil are way off.... Tach is within 100 rpms. Close enough.

JGK95 Hi Larry,

We bought our hotrod running board strips from this site. It is a mom and pop shop and they are wonderful people. Great post sales service too.

Mcmillan Rod and Custom

Hi Troy!

We got VIN'ed!!

Finally!!

The plates should be at my dad's house any day now. For now, all he's doing is driving around his subdivision sorting out the car. It's a good thing, as he ran out of gas because the gas gauge was not properly set. So he only had to walk a few blocks home to go and get a gas can. LOL!!

I forgot to add that yes, the dash is removable by four butterfly nuts. Two off of each post.

Rodnit Hi Jay, back again. My computer has been out of commission for a while... Looks like you have access to the back of your dash like you would in a modern car? I don't. Mine is glassed and carpeted down to the floor pan. Just not glassed to the pan. That's why I need to take the complete dash out to gain access to gauges etc... I'm sure your dad is having a blast!

strips on running boards

Hi Jay
Been going through your build. Kudos to you - great job. Can you tell me what the running board strips are - chrome or s.s. and a source? I have a CMC cabriolet that I am working on frame and running gear. 351 cleveland that I am painting and then starting the rebuild on. Larry

Hi Troy,

We JUST got VIN'ed this past Thursday!!

Note to all perspective home hot rod builders...NEVER pursue VIN Certification around the holidays!

The state officials / Sheriff's department may take liberal use of their vacation days and not call you back for a MONTH or TWO.

That said, if you do get ahold of a state official, you get more bees with honey than vinnegar.

So "bee" (chuckle, snort, guffaw) kind to them! The sheriff's department...not so much!

If anyone is in the state of IL, ping me via IM and I'll point you in the right direction depending on where you are in the process.

Separately, our running board rails sat too high on the driver's side but not the passenger's side.
This wasn't a problem when the car sat in it's build location; but when it was driven around the block, apparently there was flex.
The resolution was to shave the running board by an eighth of an inch and repaint it.

The only remaining issue now is the door poppers on the car, but that will wait until the Spring of next year.
They are out of alignment with the door and will need to be corrected.

For now, the car is being shipped to FL so that my father can enjoy it for the winter.

Cheers & Thanks for reading,

Jay K.

ps. Thank you Troy for the kind words! I'd like video pronto! I mean YESTERDAY!!
