07-30-2003 06:01 AM Piston pin lock grooves are machined to many widths depending on the intended style of retainer , spiro-lock-double lock, wire lock, internal snap, or circlip. don't get the wrong combination. The pin will knock the retainer out and destroy the piston, pin, rod end and cylinder wall.

302 Z28 You say piston pin lock rings, I am assuming you are talking about wrist pins. If so, they require a machined groove in the pistn skirt to function properly. Also the fit between the piston skirt ,wrist pin, and rod has to be precise. An engine that has pressed in wrist pins will not use locking rings.

Piston Pin Lock Rings

Are piston pin lock rings for specific rings, or can they be installed on any old piston pin?
