Amc country

Both are very interisting. Always liked Amc's because they were and still are different. Have fun, mini tubs/sitting low, big tires tucked underneath, cool. Sorry thought I owned it for a minute.

CrashFarmer2 I haven't seen a Gremlin for a long time. I'll bet most younger people won't even know what it is.

Javelin360 I am demented

I plan on changing all the fluids cause it's been sitting so long. As far as an engine swap I'm considering building a 401 for the Javelin and putting the Javelin's 360 in the Gremlin.

Hippie That brings back some memories! Friend had a lime green '72 Gremlin X with a 304, 3 speed and 3.90 posi that I helped put Hooker headers on. Spent a lot of time in that thing, I can still hear the header leak that developed after he bottomed them out on the country road he lived on. He drove it like that for 2 years........ Still cool cars in a demented sort of way.

americanLT1 Or just slide in a hot 390 or 401 with a 727 auto.
A buddy of mine has a levi gremlin with a stout 390 and a 4 speed, talk about a tire roaster
Have fun with it no matter what powers it.

beertracker My wife had one of those in canary yellow but it was a rust bucket. If yours has a auto trans you may want to change the trans filter & fluid. It's probably hasn't been changed in years.

Latest Project 76 Gremlin

I haven't been around much lately due to some family heath issues. Things have eased up a bit so I've been able to start puttering with my latest project. This past spring I traded two handmade knifes (I make knives as a part time gig) for an all original 76 AMC Gremlin.

It had been idle for quite some time so I spent several hours yesterday cleaning the plugs, points and much of the engine compartment. I changed the oil, transmission fluid and coolant. I changed out the starter solenoid and the positive battery cable as they were both a fire waiting to happen. I pulled the hose off of the fuel pump, drained the ancient gas and ran a hose to a can with some fresh fuel. After a few crankings she fired up but died quickly. I noticed the distributor moved so I turned it back to the original position and tightened the hold down. She fired right up but idles a bit rough. The transmission moved the car forward and backwards.

The car is far from road worthy at this point but everything is there and no rust through anywhere. There is some light surface rust from the badly oxidized paint and a minor crease in the drivers door. At this point I need to go through the entire brake system before I can attempt to move her any distance.

She ought to make a nice companion to my 74 Javelin.
