abigassbowtie i got the weld wheels and tires the 8.2 ten bolt 5 lug and a disk brake 5 lug front end another set of v8 motor mounts and a nova oil pan and a bunch of random little parts the yellow car is pretty rusty

abigassbowtie well i parted out that motor started to build a 496 and got sidetracked when I found this nova for sale I drove it home for 1500 straight six and a glide

heres the parts car i bought for 1k

and here they are getting parts swapped

abigassbowtie well i got a 76 chevy truck with a good running stock 509 400 block Im thinking about throwing my whole top end on it and seeing what it does i know its gonna lose alot of compression but its something i could have going by june

any thoughts

abigassbowtie well the reason i didnt post after running it with the new springs is cause i was pist off cause it threw a rod at the end of the track im looking at some options and would like to hear some opinions I have 2500$ and would like it to not cost over that

turn key ls 5.3 tuned to 325hp

start all over with a 496 I have a 427 t with a bent push rod and I have some ok oval port heads that would need alot of porting and bigger 2.250 valves or buy pro comp aluminum heads and a solid flat tappet cam with 10-1 compression

or build a new short block for the 406

abigassbowtie well i think i figured out why my mph is so low I pulled a few valve springs off and checked them and they are 130 lbs @1.900" so time for new valve springs im looking at the k-motion #k-1100 ! think those will be good? man i hope this thing picks up 10 mph

abigassbowtie i shaved maybe another 100 lbs off of the truck and let a friend drive it down the track once and he ran a 13.1@103 i really think that it needs bigger headers

but i dont know why the hell i cant get the 106.3 mph again i think this thing should be running 110 mph

abigassbowtie when i oredered my axle shafts they informed me that my bearing journal was an odd ball size at 1.625 they rarely see so they suggested that i change that to 1.531 so my new bearing part number is 514003

bearing dimension is 1.531 id by 3.150 od

abigassbowtie yeah dutcman is only 250 miles from me in fact if it werent for me wanting to race this coming weekend i would have saved the 30 dollars shipping cause im going up to portland for a psca race on the 11th

ericnova72 My Nova has Dutchman's in it, found them cheap on Ebay when someone was upgrading to a larger axle. Everything else I've done has had Moser as they are only about 150 miles from me.

A friend has used Superior without problems, but I think they are just stock dimension replacements.

abigassbowtie i got my axle shafts ordered yesterday i got 35 spline this time and i got them in chromolly. I bought my axles through dutchman and i paid 330 shipped to my door

abigassbowtie well i took it out friday and it didnt do what i was hoping but i only got to make one pass before i broke an axle shaft on the launce

i ran a 1.9 60 foot
and ran a 13.21 @101mph

I know it has more to come it is running smoother and better than ever but i need to play with timing and stuff i had adjusted it to 36* when it broke the shaft we will see in a week or two how it does when i get new axles

eric: where do you get your custom axle shafts in 35 spline chromolly?

abigassbowtie i put 80 and 91s in it and it seems to like it alright. but im curious about my heat range on my plugs im running a ngk fr5 should i go with a fr6 or 7 or is the 5 ok it is detonating on pump gas (92 octane) @ 34* total timing I would really like to get by on pump gas

abigassbowtie well i didnt make it friday it had a horrible intake gasket leak and the valve covers were leaking really bad cause the bolts bottomed out in the head then my mini starter took a ****

but i finished it up today and its running really lean then and now i think the trigger wire to the starter shorted out and it melted the damn neutral safety wires off the shifter so i got a little work before I race friday I think were gonna put my buddys 1050 dominator on it and see how it runs
