|kukamojo||You are charging the battery and basically draining it by running the truck. The gradual drop in voltage is your battery going from full charge to crap. You need to check out your charging system. It definitely is not working. Alternator / Voltage regulator are the first 2 things to check.|

No lights on just driving it around a bit. Then the low volts buzz alarm that you here in the old pickups started buzzing and it was up at about 12-13 volts when I started the truck then by the time I was back in the parking lot it was at about 4-6 volts?!
I just have a feeling theres a really screwed up wiring problem from whoever wired the stereo and theres wires that shouldnt be together or a hot wire on all the time but I cant find it.
Thanks alot about the charger that is definatley something I will invest in.

you mentioned the volts were steadily dropping.. was that just a rough observation based on lights and stuff?
I would go to the parts store and pick up an voltage gauge for about $20 or less and install it. for now just plug it into a power tap in the fuse block and ground it well... if you don't want any gauges installed permanently, just zip tie it to something
the battery charger you can pick up just about anywhere with an automotive section. WalMart, K-mart, Target, or your favorite parts store. the smaller ones will be cheaper.. I'd recommended the fully automatic maintainance charger from Schumacher, it's 10A, and it will turn off when the battery is full and will cycle on and off as needed to keep it full in storage.. I paid about $40 for a charger like this a few years ago (from AutoZone).. and I love it. It even survived being under the hood of my car when my drunken neighbor tried to shove my car through my kitchen with his van.
it was thrown right out from under the hood, the cord ripped right out of the back of it.. I put the cord back in it.. and it still works great
This is the newer version of my charger.. mine doesn't have the trickle and "Desulfation" modes. but the thing is it has automatic shutoff, and if you leave it on the battery in storage, as the battery starts to loose its charge, the charger will turn back on and charge it up again.

Where would I be able to find a charger like that, I have never charged a car battery before?
Now to verify the volts Im getting I should just run it, touch the posts and see what I come out with for volts?
Right now Ill prob test the alternator and see if it needs replaced and go from there.

I would question the charge on the battery. Rapid charging any battery is not good for it, nor does it lead to a full and proper charge. Think of it like filling a bucket with a hose on 'full'. .the water splashes and sloshes around, and you stop filling the bucket because the water is splashing out over the top i.e "full" but when you stop filling and the water settles down.. you can see the bucket is quite a ways from full, so you fill it at a slower rate... same thing with batteries.
I would suggest getting your hands a small charger.. 6 to 10 amps, and charge it for several hours.
from your last post, I don't think you have a draw, I think your alternator is no longer charging.
one of those digital volt meters that plug into a cigarette lighter are a good way to verify if you don't have a good volt meter.
you should always be making more then 13 volts, except at idle.
anywhere from 13.8 up to 14.5 is a good range.

When ever its totally dead I have it fully charged and tested at auto zone which usually takes around an hour.
Now the truck does sit because it is a project truck and Im beefin' it up buuut I do get out there everyday to start it and take it around the block kind of a deal.
By charging system do you mean the alternator? Im going to tear that out next and have it tested as well.
Also I just took it out and when I was driving the volts kept going down and down and down??!! Im thinking whoever wired the tach did it wrong cuz it freaked out while this was happening? May be a multi-problem issue???

first thing would be to charge the battery well, then have it load tested at your local parts store.
second thing would be disconnect a battery cable, and put an ammeter between the battery and the cable. if you see current there, you have a draw.

First things first. You say the battery goes dead after a few days. Is this because the truck just sits or are you driving it every day? When the battery goes dead how do you charge the battery back to full voltage? How long does it take to charge the battery?

1980 Chevy C10(350 battery)
Is there any other suggestions that could be killing my battery? I found one hot wire from the guy who jerry rigged in a cd player but its still dying on me after a couple days.
