Header Questions

I've been looking to run 1 3/4 inch headers on my 73 c10. Its running a 357 with a solid lifter cam (520 lift), 2.02 heads with studs, guide plates, and 1.5 stainless steel roller rockers. Never been on a dyno but it pulls really hard but I feel like my 1 5/8 inch headers and 2 1/4 inch dual exhaust isn't cutting it anymore.

Anyways i'm on a budget and big tube headers for my pickup are in the 450 dollar range! I found a set of "Speedflow" headers that are 1 3/4 inch that fit lots of bigger cars and are only 150 bucks!

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speed...Headers,29680.html?baseNo=91013185#tabcontent

My question is will these headers fit my pickup? I'm not running any inner fenderwells and have TONS of room!

Please no replies saying I don't need bigger tubes or exhaust because I know id do :)

I can't say for sure because every company seems to route at least one tube different from other company's...but I have used headers that fit the same cars listed for fitting this header on the 73-87 2wd trucks. The headers I used were both Hooker and Blackjack for 70-81 Camaro, 75-79 Nova, 73-77 Chevelle, 71-77 Caprice/Impala and fit fine in the truck chassis.

Just looking at the header in the picture it looks like it should fit fine, especially since it fits the cramped engine compartment of the 78-87 metric chassis.

At 357 cubes the 1-5/8" header primary isn't hurting you unless the port opening is bigger than that and making a bad mismatch, but the 2-1/4" exhaust could well be a cork. The 1-3/4 primary header could cost you some torque.

ericnova72,

Thanks alot man!! yea its 2 wheel drive and my heads were ported and the headers i have don't seal very well because of this. the price looks very nice and they don't look like a bad product. Oh and the 2 1/4 pipes are on the small side for sure! thanks for your input!
