These sites are where you need to go to learn everything you need to know! The first one is a custom computer that you can tune with out burning chips if you want the best! Second site is where you will learn what you need for a truck build computer options and so on! Third site is everything you need to learn about tuning/performance!

silentpoet If it were me I would either go carb or go for a tpi set up. I wouldn't go half way.

crussell85 How about some links for the fast and megasquirt controller. I am a tbi fan and am always trying to do a little more with it and push it to the limit. I am just starting to get into the tuning and have all of the stuff to do it now, now it is just months of research.

matt167 Chevy started w/ TBI in '87. 1 year only for the '73-'87 series of trucks

'87 has no transmission controls, a few other things that make it easier to swap from what I'v heard... any '87-'95 truck with a 700R4 or 5spd will work with any non computer controlled transmission.. '87 might be non- EGR but I'm not certin. I'v never worked on a '87 TBI.. only mid 90's. so I'm not sure

I was researching putting a factory TBI into my hotrod, and found that it will work well. however, it will create a tame engine. it needs the right cam because of the MAP sensor. generaly good for about 300 hp.. the easy solution was an aftermarket controller, like a FAST or Megasquirt setup, to get rid of the cam requirements, because it can tune a hotter cam. then the only limiting factor is the 2bbl TBI, but the Holley/454 TBI flows 670 CFM which is enough for a Mild 350

why is 87 the best? I don't think they started the tbi until 88'. I think 88-92 with some 93's for the 700r4

1971BB427 The donor is the way to go. You'll need more than the TBI, you'll also need the computer and harness to run it.

bigdog7373 Maybe i'll just save this idea for my next project, though a tpi would be cooler. I like reliability of fuel injection and the tbi system seems pretty simple so this will definately be going on my next project. $150's not a bad price either.

ChevyTruckGuy Well if wasting money is the goal then I would go with the New Holley EFI come with computer wiring and self tunning A little over 1400 bucks! to me a lot simpler then trying to wire in a tbi!
