|satdiver1||Not what I wanted to hear, but glad to get the facts. What does it usually cost fo have someone do the work? I will find a local shop, but I would never take it to a dealer around here|

You will need a dial indicator, Inch lb. torque wrench, ft. lb. torque wrench, Large brass mallot, Large pry bar. Hand tools etc. A couple years of experience.
A install kit for ring+pinion. A stack of bearing shims. All bearings/seals.
Rear end work is not for the novice

Need directions to repair chevy rearend
I have a 95 Chevy 4X4 Suburban, I had bought a Eaton Trutrac 8.62 rear Part # 52625 in 1999 but had not installed it since there were no problems with the origional one (other than 240,000 miles on it). Well now it suddenly started clanking and jerking so I will have to replace it. What do I need to replace with it so that I can reasonably expect to get another 200,000 miles. I have never done a rear end and would like to know where I can find instructions (with pictures) to guide me in the rebuild.
I would appreciate any input on this. I just installed a new 383 Stroker GM Performance Engine I plan on keeping this truck for another 16 years.
