hammernpunch two years ago, i ran an extreme 274 in a 305 with 601 heads and had it about 4 degrees advanced with the rockers adjusted slightly loose and pulled 16.5", but the motor was a crate motor out of a junk van, and i bored out the base plate on a quadjet and matched the body, and hand filed new butterflies. OHHHHHH I LOVE THAT CARB!!!

And you know the deal on when something sounds too good to be true...

The 1500-6500 RPM "operating range" should be taken w/the proverbial grain of salt. I think they should have said 2200-5400. After all, the Comp grind #280AH p/n CCA-12-324-4 has an operating range of 2600-5800 RPM, and its specs are more radical than the Comp grind #CS 270AH-8 p/n CCA-12-321-4.

sbc camshaft question

I know everyone loves talking about cams, so heres a question. I'm looking at running the comp extreme solid 268, flat top 30 over 350. stock intake n quadrajet, 441 heads...I was wondering if anyone here has ran one, and what kinda vacuum did it pull? I was also wondering about a cam that comp hasnt replied to me about. cca-12-321-4. In the summit online catolog, it says it has a power range from 1500-6500, 270-280 duration, 470-460 lift. the rpm range just sounds to good to be true for me! its exactly what i'm looking for, but i'm hoping to pull about 17" vacuum. comp cam help says to run an ext268, but that was the hydraulic lifter. They said if not they could regrind an ext274 to pull the vacuum. They just havent gotten back with me about the 268 solid hyd., or the special 12-321-4 specs. I'm really looking for the edge with these few cams here. Thanks ahead for all info!
