F-BIRD'88 So really you have no intention to actually go fast, you just want a quick
thrill, on demand. Get a nitrous system.

Landshark928 There are several 383SBC crate engines on eBay for $3-4000 shipped. Several reputable builders. I think even year one has a 400+HP crate for that price. Just add a carb, distributor, headers and maybe a water pump and you're good to go.

Could be a nice sleeper with a small N2O kit. But please tell us it ain't getting 24"s and a lift...

caprice75 not really looking to go fast.the car is more of a weekend cruiser.just wanting to have some more power when i put it down.400 hp was just a ballpark figure,if i can't achive then i would like to get as close as i can.

F-BIRD'88 About the only way to get that big heavy car going fast with a 350 would be to supercharge it.

Do yourself a favor and first go weight the car+you at a truck or land fill weight scale.

Now you will have a idea of what you are up against.

Power to weight ratio. Lighter car weight is cheaper if you want to go fast.

caprice75 first of all i don't find any import sexy.american steel all the way .not a fan of big blocks either.tried the search function, all the builds seem more suited for higher rpms.thought about the 383.but could i stay within my budget.

cool rockin daddy Use the search function and punch in Small Block Chevy Build. Take your pick of dozens of recipes for a nice engine.

ericnova72 I'd say a 3.75" stroke crank to make it a 383 would be the first place to start. You need torque to get that big barge moving.

A swap to a Big Block would be a smarter move if you are serious about keeping the car for a while.

F-BIRD'88 Do you think you could pick a car that is a little more sexy and just a bit lighter weight?

You are fighting a up hill battle, $$$ all for not $$$.

Find a RX7 with a blown motor and swap the 350 SBC into it.
