quicksilver67 Thanks for the help, I guess i'll invest on some heads. What flow do you recommend for this set up?
03-06-2011 10:09 PM Sounds like a decent combo except the heads and gear/tire size.

If you have to buy new heads. Which you do need. I would get some oval port Pro Comps. Ebay $699-750 Just the heads. Then fill them with good valves/springs etc. I use Manley, but If you shop, there are some good valves for decent prices out there (see Competition Products broom sheet). Final cost will be not much more than a well done set of 781-049 irons. Compression loss will be less, 115 cc as opposed to 119-122 , you probably won't notice it. Plus you will be impressed with the results.

I am old school on the tire/gear problem.. Chryslers Ramcharger theory I believe in.

Put the biggest, widest tire that will fit. If it spins let air out. If it hooks too hard,, add air.
Biggest rear gear possible that gets 7200 rpm at the win light..

Torque454 I dont think gears are going to do the trick. Heads will be your best bet, especially if you have stock ones. I dont know what heads the 215s are, but I think 781 and 049 castings are the best of the stock heads. There goes your compression tho if i was guessing. 781/049 heads are 119cc.

I was going to say that gears wouldnt help unless your cam was wild enough to have a high rpm power band and if the engine can handle higher RPMs but by the sound of things, theres no way that engine could perform at any higher RPM than what you are running it at now. It would be gasping for air. I tend to think that lower gears might actually make you slower (because it would need higher RPMs and thus need more fuel/air which your heads cant provide)

I say get some good heads.

ericnova72 The closed chamber small valve heads are your biggest problem.
