I wouldn't trade one quicksilver or some others for 10 megashifters. But as we say that's JMO. i like the look ok and the regular shifting it's fine but it does have it's down falls ex-specially if you get in a hurry. IMHO
As i stated i have had more then one and this is just how i feel i know some people like them and don't seem to have many problems just not been my case. The ones i have had were older shifters also the newer ones may be just fine but not the shifter for me anyway.

I bought a truck Megashifter to put in my 81 Chevy 1/2 ton short-wide. I have a console from an 84 Z28 that I am modifying to fit my truck though and will use the Megashifter in it. I used the truck version because the TH350 in my truck is rod actuated, not cable like a Camaro, and comes with the proper parts to put the Megashifter in.
Anyway, what is the big deal about shifting from R to N/D? Is it the pull lever that is a pain?

Same, different application, mine is 3rd gen specific.
Only the console though, originally I had to hack my original plastic console
and screw on the B/M metal part.

I´ve had one for fifteen years.....
I had to make this thick steel cover as the original B/M
piece was not pretty, eliminated the ashtray as well.

|alexcamaro307||Let me tell you that it is a little bit uncomfortable at the begining shifting from PARK to D, after i drove the car for 2 days, i got really used to it. You only need to do a fast and strong shift move (do not force it though). The Ratchet mode is the best, i agree, it is just a matter of getting used to it, as for me i really love it, i feels more positive and firm shifts...|

I've installed several of these in F-body cars. They work OK, stiff until they're broken in and the cable is too long. I always really disliked the cast shift lever.
I actually really like the OEM GM "sport" shifter. It has detents so that if you press up and slightly to the right as you upshift, it will stop the shifter from going any further than just one gear. It's all I used in my '81 Camaro and '74 T/A, never missed a shift.
You can tell the shifters apart by looking at the plastic dust cover/slider the shift lever goes thorough- if it has oval holes and the shifter will pivot to the right, it's the "good" one. The photo below has an arrow pointing to the oval hole. The standard shifter hole is round.

I had a mega shifter in an 82 Z28. It was OK. The ratchet part was good but in normal mode was a little of a pain.
I remember my pissed off dad waking me up early one morning. I had parked behind his work truck. He spent a half hour trying to move my car but couldn't figure out how to work the shifter.

|rwa1015||Thanks for the info! I'm a little uneasy about turning 6 grand and shifting with the stock camaro shifter ( getting old I guess) looking for something better and glad to have opinions from someone who has owned the product.|

JMO This is all JMO from my experiance with the mega shifter others might like it and not have any problems but i doubt that everyone i know has had this problem when shifting from D/N to reverse and back to D.
